Make your own Button

We’re inviting a small group of content designers who are also artists to create their own interpretation of the Button logo bumper and capture it as it comes together.

The idea

Whether we're designing content or creating art, what we see at the end is only part of the story. We want to celebrate the process of making it. Think of it like a Bob Ross painting compressed into seven seconds: we see it go from a blank canvas to a finished piece.

What you’ll make

Create your own version of the Button logo in whatever medium you like and capture the process as you go. Painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, photography, fiber art, digital, etc.

We’ll take those process photos and turn them into a stop motion/timelapse animation showing the piece coming together.

What we need

Take a minimum of 7 photos as you work (from as close to the same position as possible), so we can show the transformation from beginning to end. The more photos, the smoother the animation will appear.

A few technical details

• Colors/style: Use whatever materials and colors you like. It doesn't have to be purple and you don't need to make the type style look just like the actual logo. We just ask that “Button” fills a good portion of the center of the screen. And if you want to show your hands/brush/pencil/whatever in the photos, that's ok too!
• 16:9: The final bumper will be a standard 16:9 video, so please compose your artwork to fit comfortably within a 16:9 frame. Here’s a printable 16:9 framing guide you can use while making your piece. When in doubt, capture wider than needed — we can always crop.
• Lighting: No fancy lights needed! A window with soft, indirect light on your artwork is perfect. Avoid direct sunlight and overhead lights, which can create harsh shadows and glare.
• At least 7 stages/frames: We need a minimum of seven frames: one showing the blank canvas/starting space, followed by at least one stage for each letter in Button.
• 7 to 12 frames: If you’re providing 7 to 12 frames , don't worry if the photos aren’t perfectly aligned. That's a small enough amout that we can straighten and align them slightly in editing.
• More than 12 frames: If you’d like to capture more than 12 frames, you’ll need to lock your camera and canvas in place so the frames stay consistently aligned.
