We’ve all been asked to make a series of short-term compromises as “growing pains” towards a glorious (profitable) future. We ship minimum viable content for minimum viable products. We collaborate with AI — or hand off creation — for the sake of efficiency. After all, we’re told, the ends justify the means.
There are no ends. Only means. We’ve made tradeoffs and sacrifices as one-offs today with the promise that it won’t happen again . . . until those tradeoffs become the baseline. Every time we sigh and sign off on these requests because we’re overworked and exhausted, the bar is set a little lower for next time. The slippery slope just gets steeper.
This is how enshittification happens. This is how we got to global 2026.
It’s time to take a stand. It’s time to push back for content that is user-friendly, accessible, and sustainable. It’s time for authenticity and humanity. This is how your organization will stand out from the slop, and how you will save your sanity.
