Job seeking can be a slog, for hiring managers and job seekers alike. It’s preparation, time, and emotional investment for not a lot of payoff. But what if it doesn’t have to be?

Employment in our field can unpredictable, with headcount changing all the time. What if we take the same approach to hiring and getting hired that we do to doing our jobs: empathy, design principles, and considering the core user experience?

In this talk, we’ll consider both sides of the table, and how a strategic and thoughtful job search can lead to better job fits, fewer terrible interviews, and actually make the whole thing a legitimately good time.

In this session, both interviewers and job-seekers will learn how to:

  • Develop and adapt strategic frameworks to inform and guide your individual job search: from setting up a job description (on the hiring side) and determining your priorities and keywords (on the candidate side).
  • Go in prepared for interviews with exceptional, insightful and interesting questions that promote genuine conversations that lead to useful insights and outcomes.
  • Leverage core storytelling principles to craft narratives about the role, about career history, about what makes the job or a case study compelling and relevant.
